About

Baker Hamilton, MD, MMSc, joined the Moritz Center for Societal Impact in May 2025 as the Health and Technology Lead. As part of a Street Medicine Team providing health care to unsheltered people in Austin, his interests include collaborating with others and leveraging technology to identify and remove barriers to equitable health.

Baker earned his Doctor of Medicine degree at the University of Pennsylvania prior to completing his residency in Emergency Medicine at New York University and the Bellevue Hospital Center. He subsequently went on to earn his Master of Medical Sciences degree at Harvard University as an NIH-funded fellow at its Biomedical Informatics Research Training program. His thesis was based on research performed as part of the Massachusetts General Hospital’s Laboratory of Computer Science, in which he developed a mobile expert diagnostic system to assist clinical decision making at the bedside.

Baker has worked professionally as an information security consultant, has achieved an OSCE certification, and has published several novel software vulnerabilities through MITRE’s CVE program. He’s proud to have served his community in Queens, NY as a physician throughout the COVID crisis. Baker is an Austin native who came back home in 2022; he is an avid drummer and enjoys contributing whenever possible to Austin’s live music scene.
