About

The Moritz Center for Societal Impact facilitates new research and collaboration by supporting interdisciplinary work among researchers, students, and community partners to develop new knowledge and solutions that advance health and wellness in community members.

Philosophy

Social determinants of health impact people’s quality of life. We seek solutions to societal problems by conducting team-based research with intersecting focus areas such as:  housing, behavioral health, the health and wellness of children and families, aging and longevity, and ensuring access among those with disabilities.

Ethics, digital health applications, global health, and technological innovation are central to all our work. We value the integration of arts and humanities in research and programming.

Objectives

  • Support innovative research and programs that develop community-informed solutions.
  • Facilitate collaboration among interdisciplinary research teams that include UT researchers, students, and community partners.
  • Train postdoctoral fellows to conduct multi-focal research with community partners to develop solutions that address complex social problems.
