Veteran family members and spouses are a critical solution in veteran suicide prevention, yet they are rarely engaged in prevention efforts. Spouses and family members must be included in prevention efforts through peer support, education, and training. Increasing their knowledge and awareness of suicide prevention skills and concepts is essential to combat the intolerable rates of veteran suicide. The Veteran Spouse Network (VSN) actively engages military and veteran spouses and family members as vital partners in prevention efforts through robust suicide-prevention-focused peer support programming, education, and training.
